Colombia day 19: Filandia.

Today we leave Salento and on the way to Bogota we stop to visit the town of Filandia.

For breakfast we go to Lucy's, it's very good, you can enjoy the typical calentao (beans with rice) accompanied by eggs, arepa with butter, red wine and a dry fritter with a very soft cheese flavor, very rich.

In the square we took a Jeep to Filandia at 9:40. There are not all hours. It's close, in 20 minutes we arrive.

We left the backpacks in a small shop recommended by the driver of the jeep, is close to the square on the street of the Basketwork Interpretation Center of Bejucos, for 5,000 COP per person, it closes at 18:30 so we went to pick them up around that time.

Filandia

Filandia is a very nice typical coffee village. With its painted houses and balconies. But if you don´t have enough time it is not worth going to Salento and Filandia. Just seeing one is enough.

The rain forces us to take shelter for an hour under the eaves of a house. We have been lucky because it is the first time that it happens to us in the whole trip.

We went to the Viewpoint Colina Iluminada, with exceptional views of the valley, the entrance is expensive but it is compensated by the views and the wooden construction.

The Basketwork Interpretation Center of Bejucos is another option to visit, especially on a rainy day, even though it does not have many objects and is small.

Filandia also has the possibility of visiting coffee plantations and trekking.

Around 8pm we take a bus that takes us to Armenia, this night we spend travelling back to Bogota.

We have dinner at the terminal in Armenia and take a fast and comfortable express bus, modern with individual screens as in the planes.
