We're meeting Mati, today we'll visit the Gunung Batukaru area, the second highest peak on the island. The road is impressive, mountain road, big canyons, jungle and rice fields... what more could you ask for.
Road to Pura Ulun Danu Bratan
We visit the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, an impressive temple that seems to float on Lake Bratan overlooking the mountain of the same name. The complex consists of five temples and a Buddhist stupa, which is accessed from the main gate towards the lake. Totally recommended.

We eat overlooking the rice banks.
Rice terraces
Later we arrive at Jatiluwih (it means really wonderful), centennial rice fields. We make a small trekking through these wonderful terraces recognized by UNESCO.

At sunset we return to the south of the island to watch the sunset on the Pura Tanah Lot. It is located on an islet about a hundred meters away and is accessed by a stone staircase. When the tide comes in it is totally isolated. There are no words to describe it, you have to see it. Next to this temple we also visited the Pura Batu Bolong, located on a mound in the sea accessible by a natural bridge. A must see.
