Circular route from Puerto de las Señales to Lago peak.
Lago peak
How to get there
We leave the car in the parking lot of the viewpoint of Puerto de las Señales, located on the road LE333. If you come from Riaño take the CL635 road towards Puerto de Tarna and from here a detour to the left.
Description
Beautiful circular route that starts at the Puerto de las Señales and climbs to the Pico del Lago by the rope next to the pine forest of Lillo.
Lillo pine forest
It is a windy day with some fog so be careful, especially on the rope that is quite exposed. Sometimes the path is a little lost because of the large brooms.
To our right the pine forest of Lillo, a magnificent protected forest of more than 4,000 years old, formed by Scots pine considered one of the most important of the Iberian Peninsula.
Summit
The descent is cross-country along the north-east face of the peak until we reach a path marked with milestones that leads off to our left.
We descend to a pass where we take a path that skirts the Pico del Lago below. There are still snowdrifts, hard snow and quite a lot of snow cover, but we are lucky that a couple of horses appear and open up a track for us.
Lago peak
The path is well beaten, which makes it easy to get to the lake at the foot of the peak. From here it is less than a kilometre to the car.
