We arrive at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport at 2 pm, we have two options to reach the northern border with Laos, either a flight to Chiang Rai and then take a bus to the border or take a bus from Bangkok.
Chatuchak bus station
We change terminal to buy a plane ticket but impossible, all complete. So we choose the second option, we go to Chatuchak bus station and buy a ticket. We have to wait until seven in the evening, the next one doesn't leave, so we have twelve hours of bus left to Chiang Rai.
Playing petang
We wait in the front gardens. We see some men playing petang (pétanque).
Our bus is not very comfortable but there is no more so we go to sleep.
Taxi from Bangkok airport to the bus station: 250 Bath
Bus from Bangkok to Chiang Rai: 1.162 Bath 2 pax.
Refreshment: 20 Bath.
Street food: 40 Bath 2 pax.
