We arrive in Chiang Rai at Terminal 1 at 6 am, it's pouring with rain. We take a tuk tuk to change terminal (at 2) to get to Chiang Khong.
We get on a wooden bus inside, it's very cool as well as old. We take a tuk tuk to get to the Mekong river, we have to cross it by boat to get to Laos.

We have breakfast, you have to present a copy of your passport and a recent photo to apply for a visa, there is a photo booth on the Thai side if you need it. We hired a boat to cross, is an elongated wooden boat, it seems to stop raining.
