Food for Tulear´s trip
We get in and at first we're fine but as we go along they try to get us in five in a row. We try to resist but in the end there is no other way. Luckily, it's only four hours. The guy who has to sit with us is very nice but it's a long trip.
Finally we arrive in Tulear and at the station we wait for Jose to negotiate the 4x4. We go to his office, a bench under a tree, it is very hot and in the shade it is better to negotiate. Bargaining. In the end 1,380,000 Ar. 200,000 Ar per day there and 150,000 Ar per day back, plus 600,000 Ar of gasoline. They insist that we have to leave tomorrow but we tell them that we will not leave for two days, we want to rest for a few days on the beach, so we get in the car and go to Ifaty-Mangily.
Finding cheap accommodation in Madagascar is sometimes not easy as many people book in advance. Even so we were very lucky to be able to stay in a bungalow on the beach in Ifaty-Mangily, Chez Danielle and Leontine, which we highly recommend.
Ifaty beach
The people are very friendly and in any accommodation they call to help you get another one if they are full.
Ifaty beach is spectacular, it has several kilometers of white sand and palm trees.
As it is humpback whale watching season we go along the beach to find a restaurant and eat at the Scuba which is also a dive centre. We ask for the possibility of seeing them and they confirm us that it is very difficult since it is the end of the season and the sea is quite agitated. We stayed to eat, totally advisable and very economic.
We had dinner at the Maro Loko for 30,000 arys. Maybe they snuck in because the sandwiches were 10,000, the sardine covers were 9,000 and the beers were 5,000.
Accommodation: bungalow in Chez Danielle and Leontine for 3 pax 33.000 Ar night.
Food: restaurant Scuba 66.000 Ar 3 pax.
Dinner: Maro Loko restaurant 10.000 Ar sandwich, sardines cover 9.000 Ar, beers 5.000 Ar
