We got up pretty early, we're gonna spend two days in Washington. We bought the tickets online with the Megabus company. It takes four hours and the vehicles are great. We have to go to 34th St b/t 11th Ave and 12th Ave.

We arrived in Washington, the subway is not as easy as in New York and it is much more expensive. We leave our backpacks at our Dc Lofty accommodation. It is quite nice, although not excessively clean and with three bathrooms there are two closed, it has a large living room and kitchen to share. It is all carpeted and they leave you some slippers.

We eat at an Italian franchise, a sandwich, a panini and a salad. At the beginning he wants to charge us for the water, at the end we understand each other.

Our first stop is the White House. It's a heavily guarded area but there are a lot of people demonstrating for different reasons with banners. It's a pedestrian street and the building is a little far from the fence.

Then we go to the Mall in which highlights the huge obelisk and ponds in tribute to the fallen in World War II and another smaller of the Vietnam War.

We visit the Lincoln Memorial too, at his feet the famous phrase of Martin Luther King "I have a dream".

About 20 minutes walk away we arrived at Arlington Cemetery, a huge military cemetery across the Potomac River on a hill overlooking the city and the Pentagon. There is a Memorial and the eternal flame tomb of JFK.

We go back and it gets dark, but we're not allowed to see the White House at night. At nightfall, the center of Washington is deserted, mostly an office area and at night beggars occupy the parks. We shop at a nearby supermarket for dinner and breakfast for tomorrow.
