Today we start the shopping day, let's go to Knickerbocker Av, it's a commercial street in Brooklyn with clothes and shoes at a good price.
Knickerbocker Av.
Then we take the subway back to Harlem, we had to combine the trip with a free bus since it is a Sunday and the subway line does not go all the way.
We stopped at the Hispanic Society, is a free museum where you can enjoy Spanish art and manuscripts of the twentieth century (El Greco, Goya Murillo ...) One of the rooms is dedicated entirely to Sorolla. It is worth it.

We eat at a fast food franchise of fried chicken, salad and pizza rolls with spinach.
New York is known for its jazz venues that are almost all downtown. We decided to attend the jam session that Marjorie Elliot offers for free every Sunday at her house in honor of her two deceased children. She has chairs arranged throughout the room and the hallway and there are people who even knit while listening to her. She offers you a juice and a bar. Obviously we left a donation. Totally recommendable.

We left excited and with our batteries charged. We take the subway again and go to the East Village. We start at CBGB the concert hall where bands like the Ramones started, near there is Joey Ramone Place, Cooper Union building.

We continue by St Marks Place with a lot of shops, full of Japanese and Korean tourists. With curious shops like Trash&Vaudeville, with gothic and punk aesthetics, with very different objects like a second hand inflatable doll. The curious thing about this area is that there is a very transgressive atmosphere, very modern in contrast to the grandmothers who walk its streets.
We end up in Tompkins Square Park, it gets dark and suddenly dozens of homeless people appear with their carts full of things ready to look for a bench to sleep on, it's funny because at the same time waves of rats come out of the sewers... we are speechless...

On the Lower East Side we highlight the New Museum of Contemporary Art, with a very interesting facade that stands out from the rest of the buildings.
We had dinner in Alpahbet City at the mythical Katz's (When Harry met Sally), we tried the famous pastrami and salami sandwich with rye bread and pickles. Delicious.

Food: $13.50 for fried chicken, salad and spinach pizza rolls.
Jam session at Marjorie Elliot's house: it's free but we gave $10 for 3 pax.
Dinner: Katz's Delicatessen: a pastrami sandwich $20. They are quite big and full, we asked for two for two and one would have been enough.
